For HR and people teams

A team building game HR can run in 15 minutes

You need something people actually want to join. This is a free party game that runs in a browser tab: nothing for IT to approve, no accounts to create, and prompts that are safe for the all-hands.

What you’d ask before booking it

  • Is it safe for work?

The prompts avoid politics, religion and anything HR would want a word about. A family filter masks profanity in names and answers, and whoever runs the room can censor any answer during voting.

  • Can everyone take part?

Nobody needs to draw, type fast or know the company jargon. Phones work, Extended timers double the clock for anyone who wants longer, and the audience seat lets people watch and vote.

  • What does IT need to do?

Usually nothing. It’s an ordinary HTTPS website. If your company only allows approved sites, ask IT to add coworkergames.com.

  • What happens to the answers?

There are no accounts. Answers live in server memory while the room is open and are deleted when it closes. The privacy policy has the details in plain English.

  • Do I have to be technical?

No. Press Start a party, press Copy invite message, paste it in the call chat. The host guide shows each step for Zoom, Teams and Meet.

  • What about a big team?

Up to 16 play and up to 100 more vote from the audience. For a whole department, run two rooms and compare winners.

Good moments to use it

  • New-hire welcome

Ten minutes of laughing together does more than a round of introductions. The prompts need no inside knowledge.

  • Virtual holiday party

Keep the call open, play two or three games, and let the audience heckle. No paper hats, no catering to order.

  • All-hands warm-up

Sixteen play and the rest vote, so the whole department gets a say before the slides start.

  • Cross-team introductions

Two teams that rarely talk. A shared joke is a quicker start than a shared agenda.

Questions

What is a good virtual team building game?

One that takes minutes to start, needs no skills and gets the whole team laughing. Double Booked is the funniest-answer game: everyone answers funny prompts about work and everyday life, then votes. It runs in a browser tab on the call.

Is there anything for us to buy?

No. It’s free, with ads in the natural pauses (the lobby, the results screen), never while anyone is writing or voting.

Does it have jokes only developers get?

No. The default setting, Any team, uses prompts about work and everyday life. A separate Dev Life pack is there for engineering teams to switch on, and it turns the game into the Merge Conflict edition.

Can we remove an answer someone shouldn’t have written?

Yes. The person running the room can censor any answer during voting and medals, and the family filter masks profanity automatically.
